Armor of God - Preparation of Peace: Part 7 of 13

Preview: This is the seventh part of a thirteen-part series entitled: Armor of God.


Scripture Reading: John 4:1-13.

Memory Verse: John 4:14.

1. Consider the unusual manner of Jesus’ witness and the person to whom He witnessed in the foregoing Scriptures.
2. Does it appear that Jesus had a special burden for the Samaritan people? John 4:1-4.
Note: Jesus could have gone from Judea to Galilee by a shorter route, but He had a burden for the people in Samaria even though they were despised by the Jews. One would have expected Him to seek out the priest and male teachers, instead, He contacted a woman whose morals were questionable; a most unlikely missionary, even by today’s standards.
3. How did the Samaritan woman respond? John 4:15-20.
4. What was and still is the heart of His salvation message? John 4:21-26.
5. Were the disciples shocked at His choice of witness? John 4:27.
6. How effective was she as a missionary? John 4:28-30 & John 4:39-42.
Note: This story teaches us so very much about the mind and love of God. He is no respecter of persons or nationality. Gender makes no difference to Him. He desired that those despised people of Samaria have a chance for salvation, and He chose a sinful woman to spread the Gospel. He did not choose her because she was a woman, or because she was immoral, but simply because she was eagerly willing to receive Him and proclaim Him to others. The human mind is too impressed with outward appearances, but thank God He looks into the heart.
7. What commission did Jesus give the twelve disciples? Luke 9:1-5.
8. What instruction did He give to the seventy? Luke 10:1, Luke 10:3-6 & Luke 10:8-11.
9. Is anything more important than receiving and sharing the Gospel of Christ? Luke 9:23-26.
Note: In order for us to teach good tidings of peace we must be at peace!
