The Fruit of the Spirit - In Review: Part 13 of 13

Preview: A review of the fruits of the spirit. This is the thirteenth part of a thirteen-part series of lessons on this subject.


Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:22-26.

Memory Verse: John 4:24.

1. Is it possible to bear spiritual fruit without having God’s Word and Spirit abiding in us according to the foregoing Scriptures?
Note: In the beginning of the study of the fruit of the spirit we noted that one cannot be a child of God without bearing spiritual fruit. The fruit depicts the very nature of God, which is imparted to the born again believer through Jesus Christ.
2. Why is love the glue that binds the believer with all of the rest of the fruit? I Corinthians 13:1-8, I Corinthians 13:13, I Peter 4:8 & I John 4:16-21.
Note: Unless Christ dwells in us we are unable to love unconditionally as God loves us.
3. Will it produce a spirit of joy if the Spirit of God dwells in us? John 15:7-17, John 17:9, John 17:13-17 & James 1:2-4.
Note: If God’s Holy Spirit abides in our heart we are able to rejoice even in the midst of tribulations.
4. How does the fruit of peace work in the life of a Christian? Romans 5:1, Romans 8:6 & Psalm 37:37-40.
Note: God’s Spirit brings perfect peace in the midst of the storm if our mind is set on Him. Isaiah 26:3.
5. Can we finish our journey to God’s Kingdom without a spirit of long-suffering and patience? Luke 21:7-19, Galatians 6:7-9 & Proverbs 24:10.
Note: The race is not in the swift or the victory to the strong. Ecclesiastes 9:11. He who endures to the end will be saved. Mark 13:13.
6. How does the fruit of gentleness assist our spiritual growth? II Peter 1:4-10 & Romans 15:1-7.
Note: All who are in Christ are part of one body. When one member suffers all suffer. I Corinthians 12:13-14 
&I Corinthians 12:25-27.
7. What does the fruit of goodness enable the believer to do? Romans 15:13-14 & Hebrews 10:24-25.
Note: Jesus said why call me good? There is none good but God. Luke 18:18-19. Therefore, it is the goodness of God in us that enables us to help and encourage each other.
8. Why is it not possible to know God’s will apart from the spirit of faith? Hebrews 11:6, Romans 10:13-17 & Galatians 2:20.
Note: Even before we can love God we must believe that He truly exists and that He is faithful and able to do what He has promised. Genuine faith produces faithfulness in the believer. Revelation 2:10-11.
9. How does the fruit of meekness enable us to witness and minister to the needs of others? Genesis 13:1, Genesis 13:6-13 & Philippians 2:3-5.
10. How does temperance relate to the other fruits of the spirit? John 13:1, John 13:4-9, Matthew 26:21-22, Matthew 26:31-35, Matthew 26:57-58 & Matthew 26:69-75.
Note: Peter, in his eagerness to please Jesus, often acted on impulse instead of waiting for instruction. He was inclined to add to or take away from God’s will.
