Preview: The power of prayer is revealed through the lives of many in the Bible.


Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:9-13.

Memory Verse: I Thessalonians 5:17-18.

1. What does ‘pray without ceasing’ mean to you? I Timothy 5:5, Colossians 4:2, Jude 1:20-21, Philippians 4:4-6, Proverbs 3:4-6.
Note: Unless we stay in a constant state of prayer we cannot know what God’s will is for our lives.
2. What does James tell us about the affects of prayer? James 5:16.
3. What makes a prayer effectual? Mark 11:23-26, Matthew 6:5-8.
Note: In order for our prayers to be effective we must first believe that God is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We must forgive all who have wronged us- and we must humble ourselves before God.
4. What are some examples of fervent prayer? James 5:17-18, Colossians 4:12-13, Acts 12:5-12.
Note: Many times our prayers are not answered because we are not fervent.
5. How fervent was the early Church on the day of Pentecost? Acts 1:14. How effective were their prayers? Acts 2:1-4.
6. How fervent did Paul tell the Church at Rome to be? Romans 12:12. What results did it produce? Romans 12:13-21.
Note: There is truly power in effective fervent prayers!
7. Why is it so important that the Body of Christ be united in prayer? Matthew 18:19-20.
Note: This cannot take place where there is division and discord among the brethren.
8. Where did Daniel go to find the answers to Nebuchadnezzar’s dream? Daniel 2:16-24, Daniel 2:30.
Note: Daniel did not forget to give God the glory.
9. Why was Daniel thrown into the lion’s den? Daniel 6:7-16.
10. What was the final result? Daniel 6:18-22.
11. How did this affect the king? Daniel 6:24-28.
Note: When we lift up Christ He will draw sinners unto Himself.
