Preview: This is a good time to read: “What Did Christ Abolish?” from our articles section. Christ died for our sins, and we need to be clear about what His mission here was.

Scripture Reading: Romans 7:7-12.

Memory Verse: Romans 7:12.

1. What did the Apostle James call God’s Law? James 2:8-9.
2. How much of God’s Law should we obey? James 2:10.
3. How did he describe the law he was talking about? James 2:11.
4. Did he think that God’s Law was cruel to man or good to man? Discuss. James 2:12.
Note: The Ten Commandments never were cruel to man, and they are not against man today. Obedience to this law provides the best that this life has to offer man and gives man the assurance of something better in the life to come. Jesus Christ subjected Himself to this Law and magnified it.
5. What did the Prophet Isaiah say Christ would do with the law? Isaiah 42:21.
6. What declaration did Jesus make in His Sermon on the Mount? Matthew 5:17.
7. How did Jesus make magnify the Law forbidding murder? Matthew 5:21-24.
8. What did He say about the Commandment against adultery? Matthew 5:27-28.
9. What did Jesus say about taking God’s name in vain? Matthew 5:33-37.
10. How did Christ describe the endurance of God’s Law? Matthew 5:18.
11. What was Christ's example for obeying His Father’s Commandments? John 15:10.
12. What advice did He give us concerning God’s Law? Matthew 5:19.
Note: Let’s not be confused about what Christ did with the laws. He abolished the law that was against man (the law of ordinances) and magnified the law that was good for man (the Ten Commandments).
